To say the models in the DVF Spring Summer 2017 lookbook are striking a pose would surely be an understatement. And it’s no surprise that these girls are clearly enjoying themselves, it would be hard not to in these lively getups. Their animated postures help to further amplify the playful nature of the collection; the first one by newly appointed Creative Officer Jonathan Saunders. “It’s about fluidity, movement, sensuality and spontaneity. That’s why we shot everything in motion. It’s in keeping with Diane’s values of how a woman should feel in her clothes”, says the designer. It has a refreshingly effortless, dress-up feel to it – glittering skirts topped with mountains of fur and fabric, a 70s influence manifesting itself through earthy colours and trouser silhouettes. It’s very lady, yet still feels youthful and modern. Classic heels and more formal, tailored elements perfectly balance the relaxed nature of it all. This is a lady who doesn’t take herself too seriously. A lady who is relaxed, comfortable. A lady who wouldn’t care if her strap fell off her shoulder or her hair got blown in the wind. A modern lady. A lady after our own hearts.
