Me And My Watch: Valerio Innella On His Rolex Milgauss

You can tell a lot about a man by the watch he’s wearing. Luckily for us, the gents on the following pages know what to choose when it comes to the best wrist candy out there.

What watch are you wearing?

It’s a Rolex Milgauss.

Tell us about it.

The Milgauss, which was launched in 1956, is a watch that was ahead of its time in terms of resistance to magnetic fields. It was created for those whose work puts them in contact with magnetic fields, which are a source of disturbance for mechanical watches. When I heard that, I thought it could be a good watch that could also keep away the negative vibes that can come into our work! Obviously, I’m joking… I really liked the sporty but elegant model with the dial with the green background and the lightning-shaped second counter.

How did you come to own it?

I gifted it to myself for one of my ‘important’ birthdays…

What’s the story behind it?

I managed to get it just before Rolex decided to take it away from their official catalogue, after almost a year of being on the waiting list.

What do you love about it and why is it your favourite?

I love that it’s a bold, sporty watch, but at the same time it’s very sophisticated.

When do you wear it and what do you wear it with?

It’s not an everyday watch for me, even if it could be… It works with everything, but I like it more when I have a mixed look that’s not too sporty and not too elegant.

What would be a dream watch for you to own?

The Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Jumbo in platinum.
