I am wearing my Sado-Chic parure. I designed these pieces in the early ’90s and didn’t know at the time that they would signal the beginning of my life’s work in the erotic realm. The O’Ring mechanism is the key to the functional aspect of these transformational jewels. There are a series of objects in the collection that can be attached to the O’Ring mechanism, transforming the jewel into a tool for full body stimulation. Thirty years later this collection is still one of the bestsellers, [as is my book] Paradise Found. Due to censorship, I was obliged to change the name Sado-Chic, which I coined in 1990, to the O’Ring series.
Inspired by [Anne Desclos’s 1954 BDSM novel] Story of O, they symbolise a very special bond with oneself or a lover. They are my most requested wedding rings and there is a chain that completes the set that serves to literally connect the wearers. Being bound together like this creates a very unique and powerful sensation of belonging. I love that it marks the beginning of an incredible journey that has led me down many different paths in the field of sexual wellness.
My erotic designs required that I divulge concrete information about their safe use. In 2000 I started to teach sexual wellness workshops around the world. This led to the writing of my books The Boudoir Bible, Paradise Found and, most recently, Pleasure, as well as the ongoing development of the BV Method [which offers experiences and workshops], which I practice in my experiential space in Umbria, Italy.
I wear the Sado-Chic earrings every day and sometimes all the way through the night. The transformational nature of the collection allows for 24/7 delight.
My dream piece of jewellery to own? I would love to create a BV mount for the legendary Spoonmaker’s Diamond. It would make a fabulous Sado-Chic choker attachment.
