Here’s How Fashion Is Celebrating Valentine’s Day

Every candlelit restaurant in the city is teeming, bouquets of red roses purchased en masse, heart-shaped chocolate assortments flying off the shelves… it’s beginning to look a lot like Valentine’s. Aside from the up-and-coming Fashion Week, Valentine’s day is fashion’s true love. So, here is a round up of some of the best visual love letters to style this romance season.

Burberry’s Campaign Is All About Real Love

Set amongst floral bouquets and iconic checkered scarves, Burberry commemorates contemporary romance in a campaign featuring model Jean Campbell and her partner artist Orfeo Tagiuri. Across the visuals and accompanying range of exclusive products, the house has treated fashion followers and their other halves to a special Valentine’s surprise. Gift ideas are prompted in Burberry’s very own personalisation service – where scarves and selected knits can be embroidered with initials and new brand symbols. In the beautifully intimate campaign, Campbell and Tagiuri, an actual couple and close friends of Burberry itself, don colourful scarves and classic trenches. Flourishing in a series of stills and a short film, the couple celebrate gentle romantic gestures, grounded in London’s visual codes – bold colours and familiar architecture, in what could be the backdrop of the film Notting Hill. This is a campaign that is so very London, and so very Burberry and it’s enough to make your heart swoon. Lillie Elston

Photographed within a dimly lit hotel room, the capsule prods at an infatuation with the moon and a “soft, melancholic sensuality.” In other words? The longing that lingers after the departure of your significant other. So this Saturday, strip down to your Marine Serres and enjoy a tranquil night in with your soulmate or otherwise. Shop here. Louis Vuitton and Maxime Frédéric make a case for charming chocolates

C’est Le Temps de L’Amour! And to mark the occasion, Louis Vuitton has teamed up with pastry chef extraordinaire, Maxime Frédéric, to craft some showstopping limited-edition chocolate creations. Tucking into a box of chocolates may be tradition, but this gourmet take transcends convention with sculptural, artfully crafted chocolates that looks almost too good to eat.

Exclusively available in Louis Vuitton boutiques worldwide, take your pick from flavours of rich Peruvian dark chocolate, silky milk chocolate and hazelnut praline. The house’s whimsical Vivienne chocolate clover motif is particularly impressive, as is its assortment of embossed chocolate hearts with indulgent pistachio, passion fruit, coconut, caramel, raspberry and vanilla interiors. There’s even a 70 per cent dark chocolate Louis Vuitton trunk for those who want to go the extra mile. Each shape is topped off by an edible eye in the shape of a cherry red heart, so that you feel seen this Valentine’s Day. Desired for yourself or shared with a significant other, this is too scrumptious to miss. EO’G

Balenciaga Gets Physics-al This Valentine’s Day

Ordinarily, the sight of an equation sends shivers down the fash pack’s spines. But Balenciaga has cleverly subverted this association by turning the humble equation into a sign of devotion as opposed to decimals.

This year, the house’s annual Valentine’s offering combines crinkle-effect and heavily distressed charcoal-hued hoodies and lovingly worn-in looking T-shirts with bright red renditions of a metaphoric “Love Equation”. The brainchild of famed theoretical physicist Paul Dirac, the equation depicts quantum entanglement, where two connected particles remain linked regardless of distance. It is possibly the coolest expression of endearment to be found this Valentine’s Day, with an impressively romantic but not overly saccharine sentiment. Nice. Shop here. E’OG

This certainly rings true for New York-based baby tee connoisseur, Vanna Youngstein, who has recently launched a Valentine’s iteration of the popular top with Guess Jeans.

Youngstein’s baby tee is distinctly playful and oozes a certain insouciance that her cult audience effortlessly embodies (take Devon Lee Carlson, Bella Hadid and Gabbriette for instance). Pining Through Prose: Claridge’s partners with Montblanc to send ‘Love Letters from London’

Sometimes actions don’t speak louder than words. Take it from the romantic poets of bygone eras, when a simple sonnet would sweep its subject off their feet. A heartfelt verse can often be the utmost gesture of amour and this season, it seems Claridge’s and Montblanc are on the same page. As a nod to the newly issued Montblanc Meisterstück Romeo & Juliet writing instruments – which features elegant fountain pens, pouches and a pair of artistically bound notebook – the duo have appointed Charlie Child as their inaugural poet-in-residence. Paying homage to star-crossed lovers of past and present, Child will compose poems in Claridge’s Art Deco lobby every afternoon leading up to the momentous day. Guests and visitors are also encouraged to put their own pen to paper and deliver their poignant words worldwide from the hotel’s letter box, which has stood proudly in the beloved building since 1856. Step out of your comfort zone and put your heart on the line with a loving letter this Valentine’s Day. Give Shakespeare a run for his money. E’OG
