Eckhaus Latta are all grown up. The bicoastal label has hit new strides in recent seasons, moving beyond their art school beginnings. The designers Mike Eckhaus and Zoe Latta have always designed with the everyday in mind, yet today their clothes thrill with a quiet sensuality.
They make for the sort of pieces you imagine sliding into your own wardrobe with ease. Like slouched suiting worn with leather sandals and easy-going carpenter jeans accented with studded belts. Alongside tees with ab-baring cut outs at the torso, there were subtler moments that flirted with a sexier look: mesh tops and crocheted vests, cropped above the waist, for instance, or slinky tees overlaid with vests in greys and tangy oranges. It’s a gear shift that’s got people’s attention: before the show, the pair were unveiled as nominees for the American Menswear Designer of the Year gong at this year’s CFDAs. For this design duo, the future’s bright.
