Kiko Kostadinov: Menswear SS26

Island living was on Kiko Kostadinov’s mind heading into this season, which he based on the idea of creating a wardrobe of a man living in a remote fishing town. There was nothing banal about these clothes though. Instead, Kostadinov gave his future-facing design tropes a sun-kissed sheen, creating a series of looks that could dress you for all points of your day, from the moment you wake up to when you fall asleep again at night.

For the show, he built his own beach inside a car park, bathed in a warm orange glow, as models leisurely strolled in paisley twill tops and loose-fitting trousers that were inspired by Bulgarian military pyjamas. Transitioning into the working day, utilitarian co-ords in monochromatic shades of olive green and crimson walked alongside heavy duty denim and washed out Henleys that looked like they’d been baked in the sun. As for evening attire, Kostadinov proposed his most elegant tailoring to date, fitting blazers with asymmetric button fastenings or slashes at the chest. Anchoring the look in flip flops and a new Asics team-up for which the designer built a tabi toe into a running shoe, Kostadinov made wearing these rather extraordinary clothes seem effortless, as all great fashion should be.
