Stella McCartney: Ready-To-Wear AW25

“This season we’re looking at ‘Laptop to Lap Dance’,” said Stella McCartney of her work-hard-play-hard collection that was dedicated to working women who want to be badass in the boardroom and the bedroom. Broad-shouldered suits, roomy overcoats and snake print blouses tucked into pencil skirts brought to mind Melanie Griffith’s corporate wardrobe in Working Girl. Outside of the office the Stella girl likes to shine in crystal bedazzled gowns and draped jersey mini dresses (with huge ‘80s shoulder pads of course!).

Musing on work the designer said, “We want to do it hard and when we leave the office and release, we want to remember that we’re sexy.” Left on every seat was a copy of The Stella Times, the sassy newspaper that details many of the technical and sustainable fabric innovations that the house has become known and admired for. For AW25, Stella had exotic leathers in her sights, providing a convincing and sustainable alternative with Yatay M, (a fungi mycelium and recycled polyester, and biobased polyurethane) which she used for snake-effect versions of her hit Ryder and Falabella bags. Lapping it up from a star studded front row were Tom Ford, Kate Moss, Olivia Colman, Cameron Diaz, Ice Spice, Brigitte Macron and Jeff Koons. They, like everyone else sat on Stella Corp swivel chairs in a show space that was styled like an abandoned HQ, complete with old photocopiers desks and computer screens.

In keeping with the laptops to lap dance theme, the show ended with male and female pole dancers performing their impressive acrobatics. Heel claps to Stella. It was a great show.
