It’s chaotic; it’s sex; it’s Babymorocco. The rising singer and on-the-cusp performer (real name Clayton Pettet) is all about erotica, and he isn’t afraid to flaunt it. Having birthed his experimental sound during lockdown, the London-based musician’s wild electro house beats and hyper-sexual visuals have turned heads ever since. Now, Babymorocco is releasing his racy debut album, Amour.
Born in Morocco and raised in the Big Smoke, the big-biceped star has been teasing audiences with his unadulterated disposition since his first project Art School Stole My Virginity, in 2013. Now boasting over 100,000 monthly Spotify listeners following the release of The Sound last year, Babymorocco has found himself a cult following on Instagram. Also collaborating with the likes of Jockstrap, The Dare and Coucou Chloe, he’s unapologetically fuelling an intoxicating Y2K EDM soundscape, that fuses his Moroccan nostalgia with cutting-edge electronica.
Recently, Babymorocco been pushing boundaries with a filthy mix of chaotic energy and experimental beats in preemptive track releases such as Babe Station and Crazy Cheap, in the lead up to his debut. With Amour hitting streaming services today, the ever-seductive star is also gearing up to perform at London’s Omeara on February 15, 2025, a night promised to be all sorts of sexy. Here, we caught up with the singer to chat about all things Amour, sleeping with famous people and his fascination with rabies.
1. Who is Babymorocco?
Babymorocco is the first boy to do it like this since ever. Babymorocco is new uk pop.
2. Three words to describe your sound?
British. Electro. Phatness.
3. What can listeners expect from your upcoming album Amour?
Amour is a 16 track delux omnibus of pure electro. This project was my lifeline this year. My blood pulsates with trash, I got wine in my blood. Amour feels like that. If you could bleed out of your eyes because you loved music so much. You would do this to Amour. Pure electro frenzy.
4. What was the inspiration behind it?
It’s about the ending of friendships. It’s a dance song. Friendship means so much to me. But I will not become someones butler, I’m not just gonna make a Cameo. I had become someone that was at the beck and call of somebody’s every need. I felt like I was losing who I was. But I wanted to make it into dance track. More people hear dance music.
5. What’s been one of your biggest career highlights?
Sleeping with famous people.
6. Who are some of your inspirations?
Space Cowboy, iKeda and my haters online and IRL haters.
7. What’s your favourite club in London?
Anything that’s a party not in a club, is the best club in London or LA. I love clubs in Paris though and New York.
8. If you weren’t a musician, what would you be?
A writer, but I always wanted to a Virologist, I was always really into how rabies works.
9. Best advice you’ve ever been given?
Even if your shit is real bad, get really good at how awful it is, whether its music, art, writing anything. Then cos its so intentional it become your own swag. No1 can play with that.
10. What can fans look forward to from you in the future?
A mini EP called Crazy/Beautiful.
