Talia Byre: Ready-To-Wear SS24

Emerging designer Talia Byre went book smart for her third London Fashion Week showcase, sending her refined guest list of industry glitterati to independent Soho bookshop Tenderbooks. After debuting her first collection in 2021, the London-based CSM grad has established a clear-cut and considered design language focusing on family tradition and heritage, with this season proving she can elevate these codes whilst staying true to the brand’s core.

Entitled Don’t Think Twice, Byre drew inspiration from 20th century activist Annie Besant and her seminal work Thought Forms to undercut the collection with a deeper significance. Specific colours were used to symbolise different concepts – pink for affection, yellow for intellect, lavender for spirituality, and so on.

Silhouettes were understated but beautifully done, featuring zip-up jackets, pocketed midi skirts and puffy short-shorts modernised by frayed edges and cinched waists. Byre’s aptitude for historical aesthetics was illustrated through an array of candy-cane corseting and monochrome mini dresses. Knitwear was playful, forming high waisted hotpants and square neck tops, whilst voluminous silver maxi skirt and cropped capris proved to be collection highlights. A new addition to Talia Byre’s arsenal was also thrown into the mix – a plump leather and suede bolster bag called the Bolter, catered towards the contemporary, metropolitan woman. Gift wrapped in saccharine charm, Talia Byre’s SS24 offering nods to a bright future.
