Fashion’s game of musical chairs continues. Following the announcement that Louise Trotter was stepping down as Lacoste’s artistic director back in January, the French sportswear giant has appointed a new head honcho.
Pelagia Kolotouros has been named Lacoste’s creative design director. At the helm of the label, she will oversee Lacoste’s design studio and navigate “collaboration between the brand’s creative teams, and the creative communities and collectives engaged with Lacoste,” as noted in a press release.
Kolotouros comes backed with a rather impressive CV. A graduate from Parsons Design School, the designer joins Lacoste from Adidas, where she has developed collections for Ivy Park and Pharell Williams. Prior to this, she was an art director at Yeezy and worked on the creative teams at Theory and Calvin Klein.
“With her recognized expertise in developing collaborations with proven and unique influence, her ability to redefine creative models to elevate pieces to iconic status, and her talent for connecting cultures, particularly from fashion and sports, Pelagia has all the assets to accompany Lacoste in its new cycle of creative expression and in the pursuit of its ambition: to become the most inspiring French brand in fashion sports,” says Catherine Spindler, Lacoste’s deputy CEO.
