In a future not too far away, is a world where weather is simulated, sending snowstorms cascading across the woods, lightning exploding through the black, sunny skies photosynthesizing flowers and excruciating heat blazing across the desert tundra; at least, that’s the narrative hypothesized by Demna in his latest Balenciaga crusade. Surrounded by snow and sunflowers, Balenciaga’s slick, and contradictory winter campaign comes fronted by none other than the ever transcendent Kim Kardashian. Captured by Berlin-based photographer Daniel Roché, Alexa Demie, Big Matthew, Khadim Sock and Kim Yeon-koung also venture into the unforgiving unknown of the ecosphere donning super-large hoodies, faux-feather boa, cyber-sport sunglasses and swimsuit gowns with The Crush Bag, HD Sneaker, Swing Bag, Knife Wader, Trash Pouch and Glove Boot to finish the space-age looks. The campaign comes alongside a grouping of videos by Barcelona-based film director Mau Morgo, in which they use experiential, experimental animations to create environments that quickly change via timelapse photography within a weather dome, while the looks remain the same.
