HARRODS UNVEILS “MEN’S GROOMING, FRAGRANCE AND SUNGLASSES” ROOM
Since 1834, Harrods has had its grip on the globe as the greatest department store retail could possibly offer with the fashion industry’s best, all in one place. It comes as no surprise then that Harrods has just unveiled its ultimate one-stop-shop-shopping experience for men, to take them from shower, to shave to setting spritz. Simply labelled the Men’s Sunglasses, Grooming and Fragrance division, the brand new retail space comes in addition to the ADAM Grooming Atelier service. Situated on the second floor, the atmospheric area encapsulates everything a man could ever need; from the metal trim checkerboard marble floors to the slickest of shades and access to the skincare routine of dreams. Designed by David Collins Studio, the space also features a plush private room for customers to test out sunnies and a Smart Shopper screen that offers digital try-ons. Brought to Harrods by Italian eyewear conglomerate Luxottica Group, the space features Europe’s largest male-directed David Clulow sunglass boutique with over 500 sunnies on display.
This next phase arrives in keeping with a variety of store-wide redevelopments traversing departments and expanding Harrods’ exclusive, luxury merchandising. Hence, a plethora of innovative labels making their way inside the store, including Retro Super Future, Dita, and Cazal in the eyewear department; Escentric Molecules, Humanity Cosmetics and Murdock in regards to grooming; Tom Ford and Creed in the fragrance corners and more. NICHOLAS DALEY TURNS UP THE MUSIC FOR AW22
Rooted in the energy, aesthetic and attitude of hard Black rock, punk, funk, blues and West Coast psychedelia, Nicholas Daley’s AW22 collection, dubbed Dark Haze, has just launched online with an eclectic campaign to accompany it. Particularly fixated on the guitar, contemporary sonic references include Ho99o9, Sam Akpro, Mansur Brown, and Wu-Lu make up this season’s ephemeral, distorted soundscape and clothing collection.
Fit for the stage, Daley’s garms examine the power and flamboyance of costume, boasting an amalgamation of anti-establishment and anti-fashion references. Featuring the illustrative work of Gaurab Thakali and Ollie Dove, as well as the craftsmanship of london-based ateliers, Canadian footwear manufacturer Viberg, weather-proofing material specialists Halley Stevensons, Highland tartan weavers Lochcarron, and silks by Stephen Walters and Sons, Daley was also inspired by his own vinyls and music memorabilia. FRED PERRY GETS SOULFUL WITH RAF SIMONS
In celebration of the Northern England counter culture alongside the energy and freedom of our youth, the two trailblazing labels have joined forces for a sporty streetwear capsule: think polos, oversized sweats, denim twinsets, Harrington jackets, blazers, collector’s parkas and more. Built from a black base and enlivened by the pastel highlight patches sewn-on all over the garments, these specially invented fantasy embroideries evoke the vinyls of completely imaginary soul record labels, artists and songs. Cultivating creativity and championing professional working, the JCA show is set to open with the uncanny SS23 collection from Patrick McDowell – inspired by the “let them eat cake” orientation of Marie Antoinette and juxtaposed with his own Liverpudlian background – the MA students will follow in close procession. At the show you can expect to see Melissa Kate’s demi-couture Hollywood glam, Annabelle Barton’s Size-A for petite women, Maryam Orchid’s Caribbean-inspired luxury footwear, Angels Wear Nada’s upcycled denim by Noon Khouri, and Sophie Park’s plant-based shoes.
