We always knew JW Anderson had a knack for turning everyday tat into something marvellous. Just take a look at the brand’s last collection, which saw tops perforated with tin cans and door-hinges screwed into hoodies. But who’d of thought the designer could transform one of the British high street’s biggest enemies into a full blown fashion icon?
JW Anderson’s latest It bag is a rat with wings. Yes, you’re reading this correctly. Debuted as part of the brand’s AW22 menswear collection, the Pigeon Clutch is 3D-printed, with one of its wings doubling as a side opening.
If the dove is a symbol of hope, we’d like to imagine the JW Anderson Pigeon as dirty stop-out. She’s a party girl at heart. Doesn’t get out of bed till 3pm, arrives back home when her fellow birds are chirping. She’s definitely the sort of bird who pretends she doesn’t know who you are when she’s met you countless of times, and simply squarks at the bouncer when she’s not on the g-list to get access into London’s most affluent nightlife spots.
We’re hoping Anderson keeps building on his Pigeon Clutch collection so we can collect the bags like we would McDonald’s toys. Just imagine a JW Anderson Pigeon Clutch carrying a miniature JW Anderson Bumper bag? Now that’s camp.
