When he’s not directing our favourite flicks, Luca Guadagnino likes to pack up his director’s chair and head straight over the Fendi’s HQ. The Call Me By Your Name director has worked with the house for a few years now, from shooting Fendi’s green fingered SS20 campaign, through to capturing the ornate fashion film for Kim Jones’ sophomore couture collection for the house.
Now the dynamic pairing is back, this time for a brand new short film celebrating the Peekaboo. Featuring a super hero-like Adwoa Aboah, the supermodel and star of the new season of Top Boy star soars across Roman rooftops, Peekaboo in hand, as she glides to Fendi’s Palazzo della Civiltà Italiana, where she skips across its iconic steps wearing a sophisticated black dress and bag to match. Who knew the Peekaboo could give you super powers?
“I feel a very deep connection with the brand,” explains Guadagnino, “my mother used to wear Fendi back in the 70s and 80s so the logo, the type of materials, the quality and the design of Fendi have always been part of my imagery.” For Silvia Venturini Fendi, the Peekaboo’s lasting appeal comes down to its defiant qualities. “I think that carrying a Peekaboo says something about a very strong, powerful and empowered person who is not afraid to hide,” the designer explains. Haven’t got yours yet? You know what to do. And oh, if you’re in Rome anytime soon, look to the sky, you might just spot a flying Adwoa.
