Step up, Matthew Williams. The Alyx designer is modernising the formal aesthetic with his latest collection. His whole approach brings opposites together to build something new.
He fuses tailoring and comfort dressing – a boxy coat in a Teddy fabric that feels like technical fleece. He blends utility and decoration with his signature buckles and crafted metal hardware. He creates clever hybrids. There are short dresses for beautiful bodies. There are suits to dance in. His commitment to silhouette is particularly refreshing in a world gone sloppy.
