If you go down to the woods today, there’s a good chance you might bump into a cohort of exceptionally dressed guys and girls. That’s because this morning, Wooyoungmi opened the final day of the men’s shows with an eerie nighttime stroll through a forest on the outskirts of Paris. The intention? To re-discover the wonders of nature after a year of us all being stuck in our gaffs.
Taking cues from sci-fi fiction writer Bernard Werber, Mrs Woo used her co-ed collection this season to transform the “real into surreal.” The boxy silhouettes the brand’s known for felt familiar, yet intentionally a bit off. Up for consideration are deconstructed parkas in khaki green; chunky washed-out denim-on-denim; buttery leather jackets in navy and fuzzy, faux pony-hair parka in a much lighter shade of blue.
A bunch of the looks came worn over/under hairy hoods, that looked particularly great when dyed bottle green or plum. They are the perfect product of Mrs Woo’s “fantastical reimagining” of the sort of garb that is associated with the great outdoors. It might be quite some time till we can walk free in our hoods wherever we please. For now, we’d happily wear one to stroll around the garden in.
