Marcus Rashford MBE has been a true hero in this global pandemic. The Premier League footballer and youth activist has worked tirelessly with his nationwide free school meals campaign, which has most recently helped feed thousands of school children during the half term – just one initiative supporting his ongoing efforts to end child food poverty.
This morning it was announced that British heritage brand Burberry will fully back Rashford’s efforts of supporting young people with a global initiative. Alongside continued donations to FareShare – which will fund over 200,000 meals distributed across 11,000 UK charities – Burberry will provide grants for two Manchester youth centres Rashford attended as a child: Norbrook Youth Club and Woodhouse Park Lifestyle Centre.
In London, Burberry has worked with London Youth, which has selected 15 of the city’s youth centres which will also receive grants. On an international stage, the brand will contribute to non-profit, New-York based organisation Wide Rainbow, which will provide art supplies, food deliveries and education facilities in the city.
This international effort from Burberry follows the brand’s nationwide PPE campaign, which saw its Castleford trench factory be completely retooled to produce more than 150,000 pieces of personal protective equipment to the NHS and nationwide healthcare charities.
