Alessandro Michele first treated us with the Gucci Epilogue collection back in July, where the house’s designers and the behind-the-scenes team took centre stage. Highlights of the collection included plenty of geometric prints, bold colours and several pairs of bedazzled gloves. This time around, Gucci shares the campaign film to accompany the final of the “three-part tale of subversion”.
Back- and front-of-house stereotypes are torn down as everyone from Marvin Desroc (menswear junior designer), to Geraldo da Conceicao (celebrity design direction), parade around Palazzo Sacchetti and Campo Boario in Rome to show off the collection each came together to create.
Always striving to question the rules and regulations of fashion, Michele has given us a window into a world filled with chaos, in the most glorious and fantastical way. “I brought together different things, which represent the messy beauty that I have always sought,” the creative director explains. “Breaking the spell that forces my collaborators to passionately work on clothes they later have to abandon, I asked the team to wear them. And so we did a self-sufficient job, all inside our house, mixing things we had already done with things we were about to – overcoming the schemes of the time coherently with my idea of The Epilogue, the final resolution of a future that is largely present.”
