Lions, tigers, Thom Browne – oh my! After opening his AW20 show with a series of kilted models sporting crafty animal masks, the New York designer assumed the role of Noah – sending down his cohort of models in pairs. Each sported netted vials with flappy ears, their signature grey-suits danced with all the creaturs of the wild. And that’s not all. Even more wildlife stomped down the catwalk – well, should we say trotted? A selection of rather terrific leather bags in the shape of pigs, giraffes, monkeys and so much more, were rather terrific indeed. Made from Thom Browne’s signature pebble grain calf, each bag is stitched inseam and turned – equipped to be functional enough to accompany you throughout your everyday. Each detail was studied in minute detail – from how the elephant’s tusks hung to the way a rabbit’s ear pointed. The features were first traced by hand on paper, before being transferred onto leather afterwards – each animal taking at least three full days to create. These lovable creatures are all the joys of having your own pet, just now without the poop scooping. What’s not to love?
The Thom Browne Animal Icons collection is available online and in select stores.
