Ashish: Ready-to-wear AW20

When it comes to the London Fashion Week calendar, you can always count on Ashish to bring some much-needed sparkle and end the day on a high note. His AW20 collection shone even extra brighter than expected. All the extra glitz was there for a reason. Ashish spoke in his show notes about setting out to create “a loud, proud counterpart to the dark clouds that loom outside.” Tomorrow’s uncertainties were given the firm middle finger via a dazzling display of prints. Leopard, zebra and polka dots in all sizes imaginable were of the range. As were 1960s florals, sequinned for the gods of course. Flower power in full effect, 1960s glamour dominating throughout. Think mini mod dresses, halter-neck jumpsuits and “meet me in the lounge at ten” slinky cocktail dresses. Each came doused in jagged stripes and psychedelic swirls, paired with heels that literally dripped in jewels.

To a chipmunked edit of Madonna’s Justify My Love courtesy of Horse Meat Disco, some models even blew kisses to the crowd as they sauntered in their sequinned specialties. These ladies of luxury where socialites at the Chateau Moment in a previous life. Think of this as Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, just now with a sparklier ending.
