Observing a love affair in the making can be quite inspiring. Especially when it looks as visually stimulating as the one of Jamie Hawkesworth and Alexander McQueen. The Northern photographer has been shooting ad campaigns for the brand for seasons now, and each time approaches the project as an opportunity to recreate the romantic spirit of the Sarah Burton’s shows in still life. On the window of a scenic studio in St Ives where he spent his residency this past month, Hawkesworth breath in the life to rich embroideries and voluminous sleeves of Burton’s communal beauty, with some of the garments being a result of true teamwork achieved by everyone at the brand.
Modelled by a stunning trio of Imaan Hammam, Felice Noordhoff and Vivien Solari, the clothes truly sing in the salty air of Cornwall. And in case you want to feel like one of the McQueen girls even for a second, Hawkesworth is actually hosting an open day of his residency at Porthmeor Studio on January 30th. Wherever you might be in this world – these landscapes are worth the trek.
