If we had to describe the Etro AW20 show with one word, it would have to be: opulent. The Italian heritage fashion house and family business has been around since 1968, and has since become iconic for its unique paisley materials and bohemian aesthetics. This season though, the bohemia elevated into royalty, as Kean Etro explored historical aristocratic silhouettes in all their glory. Ancestors from grand portraits influenced the silhouettes which the dapper Etro gentlemen walked around the grand venue decorated with glitzy golden frames.
Tapestry textiles, heavy corduroy suiting in jewel tones, and even knee-high riding boots – no detail was excused from this story. Making sure these vintage codes fit into the 2020 lifestyle, Etro provided plenty of contemporary elements too. Slouchy knits, printed jeans, and even some snow leopard print made a perfect blend of the past and the present. A cast that mixed old and new schools of the male model elite demonstrated the sartorial potential of these clothes. Even if you might not consider yourself a poncho-kinda guy, you will indeed be seduced into wearing one thanks to the romantic spirit behind the brand’s heritage. Being an Etro man is just so damn fun.
