What do you wear while spending all those sleepless nights in front of your computer with a headset, fighting your way to the top? Perhaps your partner’s discarded trackies and a tee in that perfect shade of hummus drips and crisp crumbs. Or are you more of a onesie kinda person? Whatever your garm of choice, it’s safe to assume it’s no Nicolas Ghèsquiere-approved design. Well, that’s about to change, as the French designer releases a capsule collection joining the worlds of high fashion and computer gaming, yet again. After using virtual characters in his ad campaigns and designing actual skins for one of the most-loved characters in League of Legends, Ghèsquiere is now taking the partnership with the most-played PC game in the world a step further. A limited edition capsule collection labelled Louis Vuitton x League of Legends includes a full ready-to-wear and accessories wardrobe, inspired by the fantasy world of the battle arena.
It’s a meeting of sports and glam, in that very futuristic, hi-tech way Nicolas Ghèsquiere is oh, so known for. Graphic lines in contrasting panels of scuba jersey build upon minimal silhouettes that could almost be considered activewear. Well, almost. A big part of the collection is covered in a revisited version of the LV Monogram print – now layered under blue, white and black brushstrokes reminiscent of virtual warpaint. In addition to the clothes, the print comes across some of the House’s New Classics bag: the Neverfull, the Speedy and the Boite Chapeau Souple, as well as a bumbag shape. And completing the full lewks is a footwear trio that can take you anywhere you want to go – the Archlight sneakers, the Star trail boots and the Beaubourg platform derby shoes.
It doesn’t really matter if you spend hours battling it out with League of Legends or just dabble in the colourful universe of Candy Crush Saga on your morning commute – this collaboration has something for everyone who loves to pretend they’re the fantasy character that can take down any Marvel superhero.
