We’re a sucker for everything Chloë Sevigny puts out. The OG fashion It girl and indie screen queen could flog us everything and anything, and we’d be all over it. She could basically sell ice to an Eskimo. Though luckily, she hasn’t taken the “cool girl” sentiment quite literally and sacked off the acting gig to make ice cubes for hip Manhattan gals. Instead, Sevigny is treating us to yet another collaboration with Opening Ceremony. For her seventh collection with the concept store ran by ex-Kenzo creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, Sevigny turned to the lewks served in Japanese publication, FRUiTS, for her main inspo.
Blending an aura Japanese street-style with demure silhouettes popular in the 1970s, the collection features everything from cropped denim jackets and mini rah-rah skirts, to preppy polos and a t-shirt plastered with a snapshot of a young Chloë donning a Statue of Liberty crown. Not won over yet? Just take a quick look at the campaign. Shot by Haley Wollens, Sevigny prances around the streets of Padua, Italy in not one, but two, different Sailor Moon wigs. It’s camp, it’s goofy, its quintessential Chloë. The collab is the (un)official uniform for channeling your Hot Girl Summer-self; whatever the weather. Put on your rah-rah skirt, spray yourself with Sevigny’s signature scent and take the world by storm, you own everything…
The Chloë Sevigny X Opening Ceremony collaboration is available online and in Opening Ceremony stores in Tokyo, New York and LA. Photographs by Haley Wollens.
