Celine: Ready-To-Wear SS20

Hedi‘s Celine is taking shape. His first collection for the house channelled his skinny rock chick obsessions, his second collection was a volte-face embrace of Celine’s bourgeois chic 1970’s heritage. His third collection was a meeting of the two. It had many of the bourgeois elements of the second collection (multiple versions of the printed silk midi dress), but with a layer of bohemia on top (sheepskin jerkins and gilded headscarves – if they could speak they’d say, “My boyfriend is a Rolling Stone”). Denim formed the other pillar of the new Celine look. High waisted flares, a seventies blazer and sneakers echoed the look of Slimane’s menswear. As ever his message was unwavering. Styled to perfection (high boots and conservative bags, slept-in hair, effortless cool), this was an advanced class in contemporary wardrobe building, each piece honed and perfected by the most exacting eye in fashion.
