Who better to make the male counterpart to Zendaya’s crazy, sexy, cool chick with a flare for flares and retro fashion than the Formula 1 racing superstar Lewis Hamilton. In a cross-Atlantic affair, the all-American design legend Tommy Hilfiger (who also happens to be Lady Neophitou’s new best friend) just presented the see-now, buy-now AW19 collection created in collaboration with the Brit racer. Tartans and plaids mixed with collegiate jackets and 1990s Hilfiger logos all of Depop is mad about – the collection is a fun mix of influences hailing from both sides of the Atlantic. And just to be fair, the friendly duel between two styles happened on foreign ground with Milan’s Società del Giardino serving as the backdrop to the neon-lit experiential spectacle of a show.
The popularity of this collaboration is undeniable – the pieces from their previous collections sold out almost immediately. Easy-to-wear Tommy x Lewis garments fit into every wardrobe, both for its athletic elements and those streetwear and hip-hop references hailing directly from the music world. By merging all these influences, the power duo creates a platform for self-expression of their ever-growing audience. “I love seeing how fans express their individuality through our designs,” Mister Hilfiger said of the next chapter in the collaboration. His design partner Hamilton added: “It has been another exciting and inspiring adventure and it felt surreal to present the outcome during this amazing evening in Milan.”
With Grammy Award-winning rapper Pusha T closing the show extravaganza with a big performance, the 500+ guests were left with a night to remember. This might be the greatest British-American partnerships since Jessie J, Nicki Minaj and Ariana Grande released Bang Bang. Just sayin’…
