Gucci Launch High Jewellery and Open a Dedicated Boutique In Paris

Diamonds might be a girl’s best friend, but Gucci is that same girl’s lover. And when the two come together… Well, that’s the girl’s forever partner. Known for his unapologetic vision of creativity, Alessandro Michele just added another layer to his commercially successful world of Gucci. As if it wasn’t all opulent enough, the Italian house launched their first collection of high jewellery. And you know what that means – precious stones everywhere! The first offering is called Hortus Deliciarum and continues Michele’s obsession with flora and fauna, especially as imagined in the arts throughout history. With over 200 pieces, most of which are one-of-a-kind, the debut revolves around a trio of inspirations, found in the mythical gardens of Eden, Arcadia or Xanadu.

The first part is about eternal love. The cupid’s arrow is captured in the shine of pink sapphire, yellow beryl and blue sapphire. All of the stones used in the high jewellery were personally sourced by Michele, proving his hands-on approach to design. The second chapter of the collection is an ode to the majesty of the brand’s signature animal kingdom, embodying mythical creatures and wild animals usually embroidered or printed on the ready-to-wear. On this occasion, they are encrusted in diamonds. Finally, the most decadent part of the collection is dedicated to the beauty of the variety of stones. Topaz, tourmaline, aquamarine, rubellite… A whole lexicon of stones is celebrated for their spiritual qualities as it references the birthstone calendar of the lunar year. If you don’t care for waiting until your birthday to ask for one of these incredible heirlooms (or get it for yourself), you can now book a Eurostar to Paris and head on over to 16 Place Vendôme, the heart of the jewellery world. That’s where Gucci just opened the doors to their first jewellery boutique. In addition to the high jewellery, the space will hold the fine jewellery pieces, all scarcely displayed against the cold green, black and gray setting. A contrast to the classic Gucci pink, the new store’s setting reflects a Slytherin-like colour scheme. We don’t, however, need a sorting hat to tell us we’re destined for 16 Place Vendôme. Shower us in diamonds. We deserve it.

You can shop at the Gucci fine and high jewellery boutique is at 16 Place Vendôme in Paris.
