Newsflash! WWD has just reported Givenchy will be the guest designer at the next Pitti Uomo in Florence. Clare Waight Keller will show her first standalone menswear show on June 12, something we’ve all been anticipating since her first show for the French house for SS18 which was the beginning of a true co-ed fantasy. This past season saw Waight Keller’s solo men’s collection debut, and it got us even more excited for her vision of what the Givenchy guy looks like. A fine line meeting of sportswear and tailoring, the British designer hits a soft spot where contemporary vision of menswear is heading to. Why choose Pitti for the debut? “It doesn’t come with the same set of parameters that a Paris runway fashion week does, and I think what’s interesting is that it’s such an unusual setting. Everybody is kind of in a very different mood when they’re there,” Waight Keller told WWD. Right now, we’re actually in a great mood, as we look back to find our ten favourite Givenchy men’s looks by Clare Waight Keller.
And now for the much-needed speculation… What should we expect from this Italian debut? Definitely some immaculate suiting as well as a heavy dose of statement accessories. We’ve already got the JAW chunky trainer, but perhaps a new signature smart shoe and a couple of man bags too? We can only hope so. According to Philippe Fortunato, chief executive officer of Givenchy, the split at the brand (both in revenue and creatively) is half-half, and with this great new expansion – the growth isn’t stopping anytime soon. But for now, scroll through the gallery and pick your favourite Givenchy man. Is he going to make an appearance on June 12? Stay tuned and see.
