If Max Mara is that effortlessly chic lady looking perfect from top to toe, then Sportmax is her younger sister who prefers Friday nights over Monday mornings. But for AW19, it seems like the younger sister has decided to take life a bit more seriously. Or has she? The new Sportmax collection looked decidedly more tamed in terms of colours and cuts, basing the wardrobe on casual formality. And despite a certain sense of conservativeness, there’s still plenty of fun going around. Futuristic elements elevate the ready-to-wear silhouettes, while a totally lush combination of textiles (denim, leather and knit) truly makes you want to slip into these clothes and conquer the world. There’s heavy boots, woolen caps and everything done up via snap fastenings – has Sportmax girl gone all practical? Perhaps, but she’s still up for a boogie.
