“Go West” sung The Village People and then the Pet Shop Boys after them, but in January for AW19 London Fashion Week Men’s will be heading east. To shake things up and move closer to where many of the designers live and work, the BFC hub will be departing from180 The Strand its usual central location. Instead the weekend menswear shows will take place at the Old Truman Brewery, located on Brick Lane a stones’s throw away from Spitalfields Market and Shoreditch, in the heart of east London.
The Old Truman Brewery is no stranger to the throes of fashion – last season it played host to Fashion East’s MAN and A-Cold-Wall* SS19 shows and is the go to location for exhibitions, launches, vintage markets, sample sales, pop-ups and parties. It’s also the home to the non-profit emerging designer support scheme Fashion East, founded and run by Lulu Kennedy as a special project of the Brewery.
This season Art School will kick off London’s AW19 proceedings on Saturday 5th January with their debut standalone show, followed by designers including Charles Jeffrey Loverboy, Iceberg and Edward Crutchley. With Craig Green, Cottweiler, Christopher Ræburn and Chalayn, among those showcasing their collections the next day, before the shows move to venues around Mayfair for the start of the working week on the Monday. With less than two months to go it’ll be January before you know it!
London Fashion Week Men’s runs from January 5th-7th 2019.
