Glam, bam, thank you mam! Or so it went down last night in NYC where Jeremy Scott finally presented the Moschino for H&M collab in all its golden glory. As the Steven Meisel-lensed campaign first suggested, it was the unapologetic glitziness and high-drama of fantasy nightclub looks driven in straight from the surrealist Moschino archives that came together in this mish-mash of the past, the present and the future. Metallics were in abundance, showing off humour-infused millenial lewks Scott is so known for. Graphic prints with Mickey Mouse (who happened to become the new member of TLC since we last saw him) and oversized logos were just loud enough for the message that was being conveyed. “BUY ME NOW!” the collection clearly stated. As expected – it was the best of Moschino, served on a commercial, ready-to-sell platter.
And then there’s the major show aspect. Down a Times Square-inspired set, the starriest girls of fashion walked – pardon us, stomped – serving what Tyra Banks and RuPaul like to call fierce. Gigi and Bella, Winnie and Duckie, Taylor and Stella. It was Victoria’s Secret girls left right and centre, with the most iconic one of them closing the show. Dressed in a silver sequinned cagoule-like mini dress accessorised with a pair of killer boots and her famous pout, it was Naomi Campbell that topped of the spectacle imagined by Jeremy Scott. And just like that, our FOMO never hit so hard…
The H&M x Jeremy Scott collaboration is launching online and in-selected stores on November 8th.
