When a designer describes a “world traveller” as the focus of their collection, we instantly roll our eyes. But when a designer creates what Julien Dossena just did for Paco Rabanne, we stand up and applause. Finding escape in travel and forming her wardrobe on the way, the woman in Paco Rabanne knows her way around any local flea market she stumbles upon. For SS19, Dossena looked away from the 1960s retro-futuristic archive of the brand, and into the actual future. A world of one, where East and West and a melting pot of cultures co-exists in harmonies. And the clothes emoted that world quite masterfully. Tie-dye skinny tops layered under printed chainmail, coin-belts-turn-floor-length skirts, the most jarring floral prints put together harmoniously… Yes, all the essential Paco Rabanne elements were there, now formed into a contemporary wardrobe. With her penny loafers and a briefcase-like bag in hands, this woman is going places, meeting people and experience a life we all want to. All that, and dressed to perfection. She’s all that.
