As Gigi, Kendall, Edie and the rest of the New Supers walked down the catwalk yesterday at Alberta Ferretti, there was a special kind of glow about them. They looked charmingly sunkissed, looking like they stayed on the beach just 10 minutes too long. And now, they were returning back from that same beach, clad in frilly cotton tops, strapped in flat raffia sandals with so many stories to tell.
After decades of spending her days and evenings in lace-y, organza gowns, the Alberta Ferretti woman has recently been turning towards a much more ready-to-wear, everyday wardrobe. This shift might have started a few seasons back, but it seemed like she has now finally decided to let go. No more heels, frocks and perfectly pulled-back chignons. And even when she gets into a maxi dress, you can see her bikini peeking out. With her tousled hair and a big bag that fits everything for the exciting days of adventure, the Ferretti woman is now officially a beach babe. Perhaps the next venture for the brand should be surfing boards, sun creams and scuba suits? We’d buy it all, that’s for sure.
