Supreme Is About to Drop A Collection Featuring Mike Kelley’s Artworks

Supreme x Mike Kelley

It’s been a great few days for art and fashion collabs: P.A.M. (Perks and Mini) teamed up with Josh Smith, Balenciaga created an installation with Mark Jenkins and just when you thought it couldn’t get any better, Supreme announces their collaboration with the foundation of the inimitable American artist Mike Kelley. We can hardly control our excitement.

Originally from Wayne, Michigan, Kelley cut his teeth in the in the upstart punk scene of Detroit before moving to Los Angeles in the mid-1970s. Known for his approach to assemblage and use of found objects (including plush toys), Kelley’s practice has spanned from drawings, painting and collage, to video, installations and performance art. Working until his death in 2012, his art dissected contemporary America, interrogating themes of pop culture, class and rituals of youth.

A selection of images featuring Kelley’s most seminal works including The Wages of Sin and More Love Hours Than Can Ever Be Repaid, and Ahh…Youth!, the creepily cute cuddly faces of the toys the artworks are constructed of appear printed on and splashed across pieces including t-shirts, work jackets and hoodies. And, it really wouldn’t be a Supreme collab without the inevitable run of skate decks, now would it?

Mike Kelley x Supreme is available in-store and online on Thursday, 6th September.
