And the list of fabulous collaborations continues… Next up and coming our way is one from the studios of P.A.M. (Perks and Mini). Even their name is collaborative – “Perks” and “Mini ” were founders Misha Hollenbach and Shauna Toohey’s graffiti tags, respectively. Since 2000 the brand has collaborated with role-call of the most exciting brands, musicians, artists and creatives. From Adidas, Vans and Disney, through Ed Templeton, Mike Kelley and Edison Chen, all the way to Aries, Suicoke and Facetasm. Collaboration galore, right?
For AW18 P.A.M. (Perks and Mini) have teamed up with American artist Josh Smith. The result is a capsule collection perfect for combatting the autumnal weather that’s quickly coming our way. Built around five core pieces, inspired by shamanic action, fabricated from Smith’s inimitable abstract forms and executed in military-inspired silhouettes. Cargo pants, a reversible hooded jacket and coveralls are overlaid in a painterly forest-like urban camo also designed by the artist. In addition to the RTW pieces, you can also get your hands on Josh Smith-emblazoned embroidered patches and Smith’s iconic aluminium STOP painting appearing as T-shirt prints or a classic P.A.M. tote. All coming together in a lookbook shot by Piotr Niepsuj and styled by Francesca Cacefis.
“We love Josh’s work, and thought his paintings would make for a new perfect urban camo. It’s an inner city street camouflage, painted on discarded cardboard,” explains Shauna. “It’s his energy. I love big gestures, confidence, and scale. Josh’s paintings command power and energy, they encapsulate and harness action. I love any shamanic action and artists who work in series,” adds Misha. The action that we have in mind is going and shopping these pieces. ASAP.
