Chanel And The Serpentine Galleries: The Summer Party

chanel_mainIt’s a beautiful sight to see all the beautiful people coming together to wear a whole lot of beautiful Chanel. Yes, that’s exactly how it happened last night as we made our way into the grounds of the Serpentine Galleries. Like a modern day Alice in Wonderland (“We’re all mad here,” Lewis Caroll wrote) minus all the plot twists, it was a perfectly picturesque celebration of the Serpentine Pavilion designed by Mexican architect Frida Escobedo. Chanel know the key to a good summer party – a £4000 ticket party, might we just add. They don’t mess around with the hoi polloi. Champagne was overflowing at the door, as it should be and Nile Rodgers was rocking out on stage. Iconic. An actual party where people actually danced. Shock, horror! Only for Nile. The guest list was a great role call of those worthy, including host Adwoa Aboah, Edward Enninful, Alexa Chung, Lara Stone, Ellie Goulding, Princesses Eugenie and Beatrice, Ciara and Suki Waterhouse etc etc. We could go on. It was all the famous fabulous people from fashion, art, film and music. The kind of party that make us think, as Carroll also wrote in Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, “it’s no use going back to yesterday (pre-party) because I was a different person then.” Nothing like a party in Kensington Gardens to change your life. We have officially been Chanel-ified – again.
