Dean and Dan Caten’s ladies and gentleman are going into battle. This is no basic battle, it’s a DSquared2 battle and so yes, they may be fighting for something, but most importantly, they’ve got the armour. They came out in defence mode- a modern military in shades of combat khaki. The sound of an announcement for Gold Diggers of 1933 rang out, “the pleasure in presenting a bigger, broader, preview show,” before the sound of an acid bass line kicked off their marching anthem. Left, left, right left. The combat pant had served as the “focus of the season’s silhouette” and so it was deconstructed and reworked to make a new and improved combat pant. The pants were the right amount of loose and cool with mismatching pockets and jackets had collars up. Protective clothing. Netted vests fell like mesh, a new work of chainmail and girls rocked parachute-esque dresses that fell in perfect precision. We’d be happy to dive from our fighter aircrafts into no man’s land in these. All the luxe and glam was still swaggering through it, huge dripping-in-gold earrings swung in sync. Silky satin florals on a deep purple came on bomber jackets and down the legs of pants before a series of matching tracksuits, geometrically lined and oversized. It’s was all happening. And what would a show be without some branding, DSQUARED2 inked onto the front of waist bags and hoodies. They obvs won this battle, and closed the show in bouncing ballooning gowns, the attire for the after party and then raging on into the night to Rockers Revenge’s ‘Walking On Sunshine.’ DSquared2 know our priorities.
