Comme des Garçons Announce The Launch Of A New Online Brand

CommeChina have (finally) lost their Dover Street Market virginity. Congrats guys, it’s taken a while but we can assure you it was worth the wait. Last week, during the unveiling of their very first Beijing store, the man pulling the strings behind DSM and the Comme des Garçons group, Adrian Joffe, spelt out his vision for an entirely online brand, arriving on screens this July. Word is, he thinks this whole internet thing might really kick off. And while he remained rather coy on the topic, relaying only that it would be “simple” and “internet based”, we are able to confirm that Ms Rei Kawakubo will be designing the site itself, which to be fair, is probably all that needs to be said to set off world-wide delirium. Because how different can designing websites be from designing clothes? And if her coding skills are anything like her cutting ones, chances are we’ll still be talking about this website in twenty years. Astonishingly, this is the 18th (!!) brand for the company, lining up alongside Noir, Play, SHIRT and Homme Plus among many others, and following the online launch this summer will be distributed to six stores worldwide.
