Paco Rabanne AW18 has got a lot going on. So does everyone. Julien Dossena knows this and so he celebrates it. This was a collection championing individuality, both in the women and the pieces. Le classic French style with a whole lot of chain mail. Medieval protection, flexible and moving with a tough girl ease. This was a clever construction of casual glamour. Each individual piece of chain mail fell into clear plastic pieces that were heavily layered and tiered into skirts. Collared shirt collars were embellished, tying it all in and striped t-shirts were elevated with slip dress-like armour thrown over.
All that layering of blue denim jackets peeking out under black woollen coats and transparent bits and bobs over chocolate brown skirts zoom zoomed it forward into exciting territory. Tailored camel coloured coats and trenches were beautiful and something we all wanted. Super pale apricot silk satin brought it into ethereal territory, still armed with chain mail slides. Stepping up right now. Hints of animal print and fur glammed it all up. It felt simple, but laced with such intricate detailing and craftsmanship. Quality. Hitting the spot.
