The Louis Vuitton woman is in perpetual motion, she has places to be and little time to waste, as evidenced by the striding girls who make up the 2018 Pre Fall look book. It’s a good thing she wears Vuitton too, whose luxury athleisure credentials are here demonstrated via a collection with movement in mind, echoing the flowing shapes and billowing sleeves of the Spring/ Summer Runway collection, and of course, the extraterrestrial-jogger ‘Curve’ trainers, which, with their ankle-length inner sock and generous cushioning, look like suitable footwear for our aforementioned heroines.
Speaking to WWD on the updated Curve design, Nicolas Ghesquière said, “This season we wanted to work on a new version that kept all of the stylistic features of the [Spring] design…I always balance my fashion silhouette with chunky shoes, and I think that this season’s sneaker-boot is completely in line with the look I love creating.” In matters north of the ankle though, this is a collection of elevated essentials (yes, we are calling Louis Vuitton ‘essential’ without any trace of irony because, for us, it comes just ahead of oxygen and H20) with some rather fabulous bags (natch), and key Ghesquière signatures; killer belted jackets, lots of beautiful leather and a touch of space age silver. What more could a woman want?
