Dior Homme treat us here to another masterclass in monochrome. Or rather, legendary photographer Patrick Demarchelier does. I use the term ‘treat’ mainly in reference to our Editorial Directress Phoebe, who leads her life entirely in monochrome, or, well, just black (grey is a “bright”). And, as if inspired by our very own Mrs Briggs, exclusion of all colour is becoming a bit of a theme for the House of Dior Homme – Karl Lagerfeld photographed actor Robert Pattinson in B&W to show off the 2017 Black Carpet collection earlier this year, before the pair reunited for Dior Homme’s Spring 2018 campaign proper, also in B&W.
And it’s back to the Black Carpet here, as Mr Van Assche continues to re-interpret traditional formalwear in a monochrome palette for the capsule collection’s Spring 2018 collection. Here’s the man himself on the mini collection: “the idea of the black carpet was to convey the energy and rebel attitude of the runway collection on a capsule collection of evening wear, while playing with the embellishment codes and the know-how of Dior. Reworking the evening suit by pushing it in more extreme interpretations” said Van Assche. There you go.
