“It’s best to reserve judgment and really try to encourage women and fashion to be more pro-women,” Stella McCartney said recently about the way fashion and feminism can be mutually supportive.
It’s a cliché to suggest that Stella’s designs are a lot more woman-friendly because “she’s a woman”, but she certainly understands first hand what a working woman and mother needs from her wardrobe. It must fit and flatter, be fuss-free: Eugh! What working woman has the time to worry about clothes for god’s sake?
The answer? A series of soft and flattering silhouettes like the jumpsuit. Stella owns the jumpsuit – what an invention this is: they’re so damn easy. Pull on, walk! Relax.
When it got sexy, she played with the shoulder line: one-shoulder, some great tees, Stella says layer with a baggy top. On top. Some “big” dresses – by that I mean easy. Great with a trainer for day and heels and belted for evening. So EASY!
