“Fashion is a tool for self-metamorphosis,” said new Artistic Director of French powerhouse Givenchy, Clare Waight Keller, before her show this morning. The Royal College of Art Masters graduate is the first woman to hold the Artistic Director position at Givenchy and brings with her a wealth of experience from the same position at Chloe, which she joined in 2011 and replaces Ricardo Tisci at the Parisian house.
Added Waight Keller “The most seductive things are not seen, but merely imagined.” Seductive meant floral swatch frocks, tiered (ra-ra-y?) and a sharp tailored dress coat; a leather blouson (bit fab Wham!). It felt Parisian and sexy and had teeth. As in you probably wouldn’t mess with her; as in you’d get some serious handbag round the chops. Talking of handbags – big £-spinners for the house – dip into the snake with long shoulder strap, and rather smashing bum bag. Or as the Americans call it a fanny pack.
