Anna Sui: Ready-to-Wear SS18

There’s something quite reassuring about an Anna Sui show. It’s not to say you know what you’re getting – Sui’s imagination always abounds – but rather when you see these clothes, you know they’re hers. It’s quite a knack actually, especially since the designer ricochets between decades season after season. But it’s always her. This time it was to the Sixties. The Swinging Sixties. Flowers. Powerful flowers. Flower power. Which is probably creating a picture in your mind, which is probably just about right.

Floating hippy dresses, painted denims, peasant-style blouses, stars, moons. That kind of thing. But it wasn’t costume, or pastiche – for the right woman, these could be clothes and clothes, especially when pulled apart into separate pieces. And plenty will, and do – just witness the the largest cheer of the week when Anna comes out on the catwalk to take her bow. People love her.
