Antipodean designer Dion Lee’s clothes manage to be both effortless and precise. Harder than it sounds, actually. That preciseness came through with a sense of utility, a sportiness – elastic-waist pants with the Dion Lee logo imprinted on it, or blousy funnel-neck anoraks in matching print, worn with spongy-soled flip-flops.
But there’s a softness to Lee’s clothes too – they twist around the body as if thrown on, here, the looping fabric sitting just above the chest to reveal the model’s midriffs, or draped on the body in jewel tone silk. Laser-cut skirts fell away into a romantic handkerchief hemline, whilst soft pleats gave a nice feeling of volume. It all feels totally effortless, but look closely and hour and hours of work have been poured into these garms. How about that.
