What does it take to make a good fashion campaign? Sometimes all you need is some white walls, a very good photographer and some very nice clothes, as evidenced by this, Diesel Black Gold’s latest campaign. Said very good photographer is the incredible Collier Schorr, the American artist renowned for her intimate, honest portraiture. Unsurprisingly, the campaign bears all the hallmarks of Schorr’s direct style, Dutch models Kiki Willems and Jordy Gerritsma keeping it icy cool in this season’s Diesel Black Gold, which for Jordy, includes a sort of kimono-inspired bomber that we’ve had our collective eyes on since the show.
Kiki has something of the 90s grunge about her – turtleneck, laquered shearling, denim – a theme oft-referenced by creative director Andreas Melbostad, who also spoke of his fondness for Schorr, “it was such an honour and a pleasure to work with her on these fall 2017 images, which I wanted to capture and convey a sense of cool ease.” And there’s a film.
