Come through mama. She. Owns. Everything. At which point we should apologise that our reference points don’t extend much further than RuPaul’s Drag Race seasons 3 through 8, but here, at least, the use seems fitting. Because this was a lesson in catwalk from a slew of supermodels of the world – Joan Small, Taylor Hill, Jourdan Dunn et al, all bedecked in evening eleganza courtesy of Brandon Maxwell . Oh, and did we mention this all happened 71 floors up? A fitting floor for Mr Maxwell who has proved of late that he is reigning king of New York glamour. This season was, to reference the song that provided the soundtrack by Michael Jackson, a musing in black and white. Leather assymetric dresses, gowns that split at the hem, chunky fur coats – all in a monochrome palette. With a touch of glimmering chain mail thrown in for good measure. Soundtrack was great too – I mean, where else can you hear Christina, Mariah and MJ all in one handy seven minute megamix? Enough to make one chug another glass of champers and find somewhere to do vaguely inappropriate dance moves.
