A glimmer of much-needed good news this PM in the form of a brand new line up of Fashion-East-as. Well, we say brand new, but two of the wildly talented designers from last season return to the incubator for AW17 – Matty Bovan and Mimi Wade, joined this time by newcomers Supriya Lele and A Sai Ta. Spriya has recently graduated from from the RCA, her designs, apparently, showing of the female form in a slinky, modern way (ummmm yes please), whilst A Sai Ta, a graduate of Central Saint Martins, worked for Kanye West’s Yeezy line before starting his own label Asai. Very deconstructed, apparently. “At Fashion East we like to support originality and encourage designers to be brave and bold in their statements. This season’s group are very individual and assured in their point of view and are confident in telling their stories on their own terms,” Lulu Kennedy told Vogue Runway. “The wholesale model is not right for everyone and that’s fine; our designers are selling direct to their followers, working as consultant art directors, stylists, or being signed for lucrative collaborations. It’s all good.” Collections will be shown at Tate Modern on February 18th. The countdown begins.
