Made from processes we can’t quite understand (3D hand-casted PU fabrics and hand painted injection moulding? Huh?) so, with no time for a quick Wiki-tutorial, we shall instead enjoy Iris Van Herpen’s latest offering in a purely aesthetic way. Because this was, as Van Herpen is so adept, breathtaking fashions – clothing that looks as if it has been delivered to earth via space transportation, possibly from a distant utopia ruled entirely by powerful self-procreating women. Because this is a futuristic kind of beauty, instilled with a mythical power – clothes that make woman appear otherworldly, that almost live and breath – some layered like the back of an armadillo, others like they had been made from tiny droplets of water. Or those hypnotising, slinky-like curves. Final dress – a shimmering structure that looked something like a giant snowflake. Feels like we don’t even have a vocabulary for this. Clothing for the futuristic fashion fiend.
