Ashley Williams: Ready-to-wear SS17

What was your teenage fantasy? Ashley Williams’ teenage fantasy involved River Phoenix, apparently. He was here, not quite literally but on printed out pieces paper that sat on a Canon printer, making an inkjet possibly the week’s most sought after accessory thus far. Quite difficult to carry, though. But anyway, this was an ode, a homage, to eighties girlhood (we wouldn’t know, we’re far too young), complete with a set featuring a large teddy bear and hair dye stained sink. And the clothes? Well, they were a little bit John Waters, as in, girlish, kitsch but somehow a bit warped, as if Ashley’s ladies were having dark dark thoughts underneath. There were floral dresses with boob-bead details (yes!), boxy suiting, flame prints that crept up the hems of skirts. Big old puffed-up sleeves. A proposal for a romper-esque dungaree. This was fierce lady action en masse. Oh, and the bags were cat shaped. Cat bags. Phoebe is excited.
